The IT Council of MSM arranged a seminar on the subject of “the role of information technology in national development.” Addressing the seminar, the IT experts were of the opinion that only IT experts could put the country on the path to socio-economic prosperity. They also emphasized the need for creating opportunities for the youth so that they not only have productive jobs but also open up opportunities for others, stating that freelancing was a vast but unexplored area for job creation at a massive scale.
Mian Anser Mahmood, MSM Secretary General, said that the IT departments need to be made active in schools and colleges. He said that career counseling needs to be imparted to the youth so that they can take to learning IT skills as agents of change. He said that the IT ministry needs to come up with ambitious plans to unlock the vast IT potential by persuading the youth and the students to learn about the information technology tools.
Talha Mir said that no country can progress in today’s world without bringing in investment and innovation in different sectors of the economy. He said that the youth should focus on technical, professional and scientific subjects so that they can contribute to national development, adding that the IT sector offers the biggest attraction and immediate rewards.
Hassan Mohi-ud-Din, Ahmad Hassan Jutt, Umer Ishaq, Saad Amin, Talha Jami, Umer Qureshi, Mohsin Iqbal, and other student leaders also addressed the seminar.
